The Farm extends for
about 15 acres of flat and irriguos / agricultural land
intended for crops and vegetables, an olive-grove and
a small wood (wild cherry trees).
The Farm has undergone frequent and important changes
taking part, since 1198, in the organic farming programme
(subject to IMC control).
The organic farming began with forage and then expanded
to organic vegetables for the frozen foods indistry
and to cereals.
Actually the Farm is engaged in various activities:
1. the production of wheat, legumes and cereals for
organic animal breeding in the area;
2. the care of a young olive-grove of about two and
half acres with a variety of plants aome of which typical
of the area (Piantone fo Falerone and Piantone of Mogliano).
3. The management of a small wood of wild cherry trees
(prunis avium) planted in 2005/2006.
All the initiatives taken and programmed, the care of
existing plants, the choice of otnamental plants and
hedges recently acquired, are aimed at conserving and
enroching the environment typical of the area (one can
find the following trees: poplars, white and red poplars,
willow, wild cherry, blood-wort, plane, lime and others).
The archard with its variety of plants and the vegetable
garden are not large, bling for family use and for the
enjoyment of guests as are the farm-yard animals wich
are like real family pets. |
